This time last year, we agents (and consumers), were pulling our hair out over all of the healthcare.gov glitches, constant health policy changes by the government, and growing pains that came with the first year of open enrollment.
This year has been a completely different experience. More insurers such as United Healthcare and Assurant are taking part on the Marketplace, which means more plan options and more competitive pricing for consumers. CMS reported that more than 462,000 people applied for new coverage in the first week of annual enrollment. While many of these were renewals, it’s still encouraging to see growth.
In today’s health insurance environment, strategy with an insurance agency is very important for individuals, families, and small business owners. The healthcare law is complex and there are plenty of pitfalls if not navigated properly. Make sure to assess your current coverage before Feb 15th when annual enrollment ends. If not, you may be missing out on a better policy for your current needs.
